Google用了数年时间渗透到微软控制的核心地带。过去一年，Google取得了一连串令人印象深刻的胜利，赢得了拥有超过8万名员工的瑞士制药巨头罗氏和9万雇员的美国内政部的合同，市场从小企业拓展到大企业和大政府机构。Google能成功的一个重要原因是价格。自Google Apps商业化以来，它的价格一直没有变化——每位用户每年50美元，即使它在不断增加新功能。例如，Google在2012年增加了离线工作能力，以及安全和数据管理。微软企业版办公软件的价格高达每台计算机400美元，不过批量采购价格只需一半。微软表示，它未将Google Apps视为一个威胁。微软企业业务部门总经理Julia White说，Google还没有表现出认真对待企业软件市场，"从外部看，它们是一家广告公司。"
