没有多少人在圣诞假期抱着一台Windows 8电脑回家，微软的新一代操作系统未能刺激电脑销量，往日的胜景不复重现。在这种情况下，微软和其它严重依赖计算机业务的企业的挣扎将会继续下去。宏碁美国部门总裁称，该公司的Windows 8 PC销量低于预期，其中一个原因是不熟悉的界面令用户谨慎起来。而运行Windows RT的平板也未能从苹果和亚马逊等竞争对手的产品中脱颖而出。
