Flipboard招揽Hulu前CTO 将关注视频服务

新浪科技讯 北京时间2月9日上午消息，社交阅读应用Flipboard CEO迈克·麦库伊(Mike McCue)本周在接受采访时表示，Hulu前首席技术官埃里克·冯(Eric Feng)已加入Flipboard。
埃里克·冯近期曾是在线活动规划创业公司Erly的CEO，他已在一封邮件中确认加入Flipboard。Flipboard的移动应用从用户的社交信息源聚合文章和其他内容，并以杂志的形式呈献给用户。
埃里克·冯的加入表明了Flipboard关注重点的转变。近期，Flipboard遭遇了来自Twitter和Facebook越来越激烈的竞争。麦库伊此前曾是Twitter的董事会成员，然而Twitter已推出一款个性化内容应用，与Flipboard直接竞争。
有消息称，Flipboard正在开发全新的版本。考虑到埃里克·冯在Hulu的经历，Flipboard的新功能可能会专注于视频服务。埃里克·冯本人也表示，希望Flipboard加视频的形式能够令用户和股东满意。
业内人士认为，Flipboard在应用中加入视频功能是非常合理的做法。用户喜欢观看视频，而平板电脑是非常好的视频播放载体。
麦库伊此次还表示，Flipboard目前已有超过2000万用户，而每秒钟都有新用户加入。此外，Flipboard的员工总数已增加至77人，包括埃里克·冯和Erly的另一名联合创始人尤金·魏(Eugene Wei)。去年5月，西恩·帕克(Sean Parker)支持的创业公司Airtime收购了Erly的团队，不过埃里克·冯于10月离开了Airtime。
