两个月前，Mozilla宣布与Epic Games合作将虚幻引擎3移植到浏览器上，它希望浏览器不仅能运行休闲游戏，还能运行3A级大作。虚幻引擎3的浏览器版本将利用WebGL，Emscripten和高性能JavaScript子集asm.js。现在，Mozilla 和Epic正式发布了基于虚幻引擎3的HTML5演示游戏Epic Citadel，目前只支持Firefox Nightly和最新版Firefox（速度会比测试板慢），Chrome可能会崩溃。它采用的HTML5技术不是所有浏览器都支持，但未来应该可以运行在其它浏览器上。Epic声称Citadel运行速度两倍于原生，这估计只是一个宣传噱头。Citadel支持动态高光照明和全局照明等OpenGL特效，需要先载入纹理数据（载入时间因网速而定）。
