Google官方博客宣布，Chrome/Blink浏览器将逐步停止通用的跨平台插件架构Netscape Plugin API（NPAPI），理由是Web在进化，而源自90年代的NPAPI架构引发了越来越多的问题，代码日益复杂，安全事故也是频发。NPAPI接口用于在浏览器中执行外部应用程序，最早专为Netscape浏览器开发，之后成为其它浏览器共同支持的插件标准。从2014年1月开始，Chrome将默认屏蔽NPAPI插件，但为了减少混乱，Chrome将六个广泛使用的NPAPI插件纳入了临时性质的白名单，这些插件包括：Silverlight、Unity、Google Earth、Google Talk和Facebook Video。到2014年年底，Chrome将完全移除NPAPI支持。Google将自家开发的NACL作为NPAPI的替代。This entry passed through the Full-Text RSS service — if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read the FAQ at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php#publishers.
