July 31, 2013 — Women who gave birth following fertility treatment had no long-term increased risk of death or major cardiovascular events compared to women who gave birth without fertility therapy, according to new research by the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and Women's College Hospital.
The findings, published today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, are the first to show fertility medications, which can cause short-term pregnancy complications, are not associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease later in life.
"The speculated association between fertility therapy and subsequent cardiovascular disease is not surprising given that more women are waiting until an older age to have children, when they are at greater risk of developing heart disease," said Dr. Jacob Udell, lead author of the study and cardiologist at Women's College Hospital.
Fertility therapy is used in nearly one percent of all successful pregnancies in North America. But these medications are known to cause short-term complications such as gestational diabetes and hypertension. These short-term risks, however, do not translate into lasting cardiovascular damage according to the researchers.
In the study, researchers assessed the long-term risk of stroke, heart attack and heart failure following fertility therapy among 1.1 million women after delivery over a 17-year follow-up period in Ontario. They found:
A five-fold increase in the use of fertility therapy from 1993 to 2010, particularly among older women.
The use of fertility therapy was associated with an increase in pregnancy complications including a near 30 per cent increase of diabetes in pregnancy, 16 per cent increase in placental disorders and a 10 per cent increase in pre-eclampsia.
Women who delivered following fertility therapy had about half the risk of subsequent death compared to women who did not have fertility therapy.
Women who delivered following fertility therapy had nearly half the risk of major cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack and heart failure. The researchers do not believe that this is a direct effect of treatment; rather that women undergoing fertility therapy maintain a healthy lifestyle over a long period.
Researchers reported no increase in the risk of future breast or ovarian cancer in women who gave birth following fertility therapy.
Women who had fertility therapy also experienced fewer mental health events, including one-third the rate of depression and one-sixth the rate of self-harm.
"Our findings provide some reassurance that fertility therapy does not appear to increase long-term risk of cardiovascular events following successful pregnancy," says Dr. Donald Redelmeier, co-author of the study and a senior scientist at ICES. "The existing literature provides mixed messages, with our results yielding a relatively favourable assessment."
One theory is that women who seek fertility therapy maintain healthier behavior after a successful delivery -- a pattern that extends across age and income groups, the researchers say. "Those with successful outcomes may have a powerful and durable change to their lifestyle," says Dr. Redelmeier. "Unknown protective mechanism may also contribute."
"Our findings are encouraging but further research is necessary to explain the full impact of fertility therapy on women's health," Dr. Udell adds. "With a better understanding of the long-term health effects associated with fertility therapy, we can help inform decision making and reduce potential health risks to women."

网易科技讯 8月1日消息,据华尔街日报报道,谷歌取代移动运营商AT&T,成为了星巴克逾7000家美国门店的免费Wi-Fi服务提供商。
谷歌将与互联网中间商Level 3 Communications合作提供该项服务。星巴克称,它们提供的Wi-Fi网络速度将达AT&T提供的现有T1网络的10倍左右。从下周开始,新Wi-Fi网络将会在星巴克的部分门店启用,并在未来的18个月内全面覆盖所有的美国门店。
星巴克并未具体透露谷歌在该项目中的角色,不过它有说谷歌还将会提供YouTube、Google Play之类的媒体产品。星巴克CEO亚当·布洛特曼(Adam Brotman)说,"两家公司将会共同开发星巴克的下一代数字网络。"
该合作也给了谷歌新的广告销售和产品营销渠道。Level 3 CEO杰夫·斯托雷(Jeff Storey)举例说,谷歌能够在人们进入星马克门店时提供季节性饮料优惠券。"谷歌将会在该合作中做它最擅长的事情,"斯托雷在电话会议中向分析师表示,"我们则会从事网络部署方面的工作。"

目前,谷歌的大部分收入仍来自网络搜索广告。不过它正加大对网络基础设施的投入,其行动有望促使行业为消费者提供更加快速的网络。反过来,这样也会使得人们消费更多的在线媒体,使用更多的谷歌服务,从而看到更多谷歌提供的广告。
谷歌今年公布了将谷歌光纤(Google Fiber)网络服务扩张至德州奥斯汀和犹他州普罗沃的计划。通过借道该有线网络,它能够在那些市场推出Wi-Fi网络,让人们可以在公共场所使用移动设备上网。
星巴克从2010年7月开始在美国免费提供Wi-Fi服务,在此之前Wi-Fi网络对顾客使用两小时的收费为3.99美元。

  今天带给大家的评测是关于图丽SD 12-28mm F4(IF)DX的,作为DX格式(APS-C)镜头,折合后的最广焦段达到18mm,在半幅上已经算是非常了得了。或许在全幅+红圈金圈满大街跑的今 天,很多高手并不关注图丽,但图丽在广角和鱼眼领域的多年耕耘是不能忽略的,副厂的高性价比也让更多的半幅用户有机会用上超广角镜头。

  这里我并没有捧高图丽的意思,当年的11-16mm、12-24mm都是给笔者印象很深的镜头,毕竟原厂的16-35mm、14-24mm都至少5位数 起,DX格式镜头超广也同样不便宜,这个焦段对于囊中羞涩的我们来说,副厂可能是最现实的解决方案,图丽便是其中之一。

  如今的这支12-28mm F4(IF)DX在长焦端扩展了4mm,这样子在DX格式上其折合焦段为18-42mm,长焦端更加接近标准视角,应该说扩展了使用的范围。而且由于目前 DX格式已经进入2000w像素级,为了更加符合现在CMOS的发展,镜头画质提升也是必要的进化。
  ·外观与机械功能
  相对于几年前的12-24mm,新的12-28mm F4(IF)DX并没有外观上的巨大革新,依旧是原来那个风格,遮光罩也沿用了那支BH-77B莲花罩。整体在广角镜中较为轻便。

  图丽的这个系列镜头在对焦上一直比较令人满意,主要体现在几个方面:1.IF内对焦,对焦时镜头不会伸缩,前镜也不会旋转,这对使用滤镜的风光摄影有较大意义。2.内变焦,下图中就可以看出变焦也不会有镜筒的伸缩,这样有利于保证镜头的密封性。

  3."GAM(磁精密)"自动对焦控制传感器和"SD-M"(静音驱动模块)的应用,提高了对焦精度,降低了对焦驱动的声音。4.尼康口版本内置马达,可以兼容没有驱动马达的入门级单反机身。并且对焦速度良好,虽不如一些超声波对焦技术,但也算非常迅速。
装配工艺
  但同时也要说些不足,相对于之前的产品,装配上显得不那么用心,对焦环的橡胶有些不正,手感也偏松散。很多影友在之前的评测图赏中对图丽的做工给予了肯定,希望图丽不要在这方面丢掉了优势。

  从大面儿和功能上我们做完剖析,我们再来看看产品细节的表现,先看镜片,可以说12-28mm F4(IF)DX的前后镜都较为突出,这是广角镜光学结构常见的外在表现,在拆装时要格外注意保护,不过令人欣慰的是虽然前镜较鼓但依旧可以安装滤镜。

  首先我们看下图丽12-28mm F4(IF)DX的光学结构和MTF曲线。

  这款镜头的光学结构为全新设计:前组使用一个非球面P-MO透镜,同时后组使用模压玻璃非球面透镜,可以有效纠正球差,同时校正畸变。使用SD玻璃(超低色散玻璃)FK01和FK03,效仿萤石玻璃性能,旨在消除色差。

  接下来我们关注下畸变,超广由于光学结构的问题难免有畸变存在,能否控制在合理的范围内则是大家的关注点。我们找了一些方形图案的照片来直观体现。

  从照片中的反馈可以看出,12-28mm F4(IF)DX从12mm到28mm都存在一些桶形畸变,随着焦段的增长有所减轻,但在广角端还是比较明显的。

  ISO12233标版测试,读数位置为中间偏右侧标尺,上方为横向分辨率,下方为纵向分辨率。

  统计显示,在标版上图丽SD 12-28mm F4(IF)DX的12端呈现出明显的抛物线走势,F8为最佳光圈,分辨率相当惊人,高达3500线左右。最大和最小光圈分辨率则相对较弱。而在28mm 端趋势显得较为平缓,画质的平均水平更高一些,但极限的画质略低于12mm端。

  ·12mm分辨率实拍
  下面是12mm端的中心及边缘画质100%截图,在实拍中,我们发现和ISO12233所体现出来的数据略有不同,经过对比我们认为是像面弯曲造成的,因 为在实拍中我们所有照片均采取中央单点对焦拍摄,所以在全开光圈的情况下,中央画质的实际表现高于预期,而边缘则低于预期。

  具体表现为中心画质从全开开始一路都有不错的表现,最优出现在F5.6-F8之间,直到F16以后开始出现明显下降,而画面最边缘则在全开时不容乐观,但随着光圈减小,景深增大在F11时回归到一个正常的水平,这也反映了我们所说像面弯曲的结论。

  与12mm端不一样,28mm端的实拍表现倒是很贴近ISO12233标版上的数据,看来像面弯曲仅在广角端体现得较为明显。

  在28mm上,画面中央和边缘的画质较为平均。中央最佳在F5.6-F11之间,边缘则为F8-F16之间,其间画质优秀。F4全开时画质尚可,最小F22时中央下降较大。

  个人认为图丽SD 12-28mm F4(IF)DX是一支不错的入门风光拍摄镜头,其在户外广角题材上的实际表现可圈可点,甚至要高于实验室内的参数化表现。在此同时,其也可以兼任不少其 他类型的拍摄工作,特别是在长焦端增加了4mm后,比起老的12-24mm镜头更加用途广泛。

  光线是摄影反映现实的必要条件,没有光线,摄影艺术就无法存在,光线是摄影家用来塑造艺术形象的表现手段。在现实世界中,光线千姿百态,可以照亮周围的物体,使其显现原有的样子,光线本身也具有极强的造型能力。
  光线的造型功能
  对于摄影者来说,光线是进行审美和审美欣赏的物件,摄影者透过相机在自己创造摄影画面上综合揭示了光线赋予万物所具有的音乐般的韵律,以及无穷魅力的瞬间。

  照亮被摄对象
  我们之所以能看到自然界中的万物,就是因为光线的存在。在光线的照射下,物体显现出它们本来的面目,并产生明暗的变化,使物体产生丰富的层次。不同的光线具有不同的照明作用。顺光可以照亮物体的正面,显示物体清新亮丽的一面,但顺光下的物体色调相对平淡,缺乏层次。侧光可以使物体产生明显的光影效果,物体色调丰富,明暗变化明显,具有立体感。逆光可以从后面照亮物体,使物体产生明显的轮廓光,甚至会形成剪影,极具造型能力。

  衬托画面气氛
  光线的作用不仅仅表现在照亮物体上,透过光线色温的变化,还可以使被摄物▁体产生色彩上的变化,从而影响到画面的气氛,不同的颜色甚至能引起人们不同的联想。例如拍摄海上日出,本来是蓝色的大海,由于早上色温较低,从而使整个海面也形成一种红色的暖调,给人一种温暖的感觉。对于一个摄影画面,除了我们想要表达的主体之外,还要重点关注被摄主体所处环境对画面的影响。而画面气氛则要靠各种光线及色彩的综合作用才能产生。

  利用光线形成明暗对比
  被摄物体在被光线照射,尤其是在直射光的照射下,会在表面产生明暗之间的反差,受光面和背光面之间形成明暗对比,甚至会产生强烈的剪影效果,容易形成一种低调的画面效果。利用明暗对比来结构画面,这是一种经常用到的拍摄方法,它能够加大画面的反差,画面色调硬朗,使得被摄主体也更加突出,产生一种特殊的气氛。

比特网(ChinaByte)8月1日消息,据国外媒体报道,路透社援引消息人士的说法称,因戴尔董事会特别委员会表示拒绝调整投票的计算方式,以换取迈克尔·戴尔和银湖提出的每股13.75美元的更高报价,这一举动或将直接导致戴尔私有化告吹。
报道称,周三早些时候,戴尔董事会特别委员会表示拒绝调整投票的计算方式,以换取迈克尔·戴尔和银湖提出的每股13.75美元的更高报价。不过特别委员会表示,愿意将投票的记录日期往后推迟。

但是迈克尔·戴尔和银湖认为,戴尔董事会特别委员会的回应无法顺利推动私有化交易进行,因为戴尔的许多股东将不会投票,而根据投票规则,不投票则被算作反对票,因此他们的票数将被算作反对票,而修改投票的记录日期无法解决根本问题。除非投票的计算方式得到修改,否则私有化交易目前已可以宣告失败。
迈克尔·戴尔和银湖的发言人尚未对这一说法置评。业内人士认为,这意味着活跃投资者卡尔·伊坎(Carl Icahn)获得戴尔控制权的可能性大幅上升。
戴尔和银湖提出的私有化方案遭到了活跃投资者卡尔伊坎(carl icahn)和大股东东南资产管理公司的反对。董事会特别委员会已经两次推迟了股东投票,等待潜在收购方获得足够多的票数。

比特网(ChinaByte)8月1日消息,据国外媒体报道,苹果公司将以75美元的价格出售翻新版Apple TV机顶盒,较全新产品的价格低了25%,有望吸引更多消费者购买。
翻新版Apple TV采用A5处理器,可以通过HDMI接口兼容1080p或720p的高清视频,刷新率为60或50Hz。用户可以直接通过苹果公司的网站购买,并将在24小时内发货。除此之外,还可以到苹果公司的实体零售店购买。
苹果公司最近为Apple TV新增了iTunes音乐购买功能,还有多款视频应用也都在近几个月增加了对AirPlay投射功能的支持。另外,用户很快还有望将iPhone、iPad和iPod Touch当做Apple TV的触屏遥控器来使用。

近日谷歌发布了只有35美元的电视棒Chromecast,这个只有2英寸大小的USB加密电视棒,运行简化版的Chrome操作系统,支持Android、iOS等多个平台。其最大的特色就是能够跟电视盒子一样,可以通过无线连接,把内容投射到电视上观看。
谷歌电视棒的出现,是应对目前流行的电视盒子市场,还是抢占苹果TV的先机,引起了业界很大猜想。
业内人士认为,苹果推出翻新版的Apple TV机顶盒是为了应对谷歌Chromecast电视棒的挑战。而翻新版的价格只有Chromecast的两倍多,但依旧可以享受苹果公司提供的1年保修服务,且功能远多于Chromecast。

对于现在的高端游戏玩家来说,仅是华丽的显示效果已经不足以满足他们的需求,这些玩家所追求的是尽可能逼真的游戏体验。
为此,很多周边设备厂商也在积极的开发各式各样的增强现实设备来满足玩家的需要。在去年亮相的Oculus Rift眼镜能够让人们看到几近真实的3D游戏世界,而Razer Hydra电子枪则为玩家提供了逼真的设计游戏体验,那么如果将更多类似的产品进行结合我们是不是就能够获得一个完全拟真的游戏环境呢?答案是肯定的。
近日,一支来自国外的技术小组就开发出了一种名为"Atlas"的仿真游戏系统,除了我们上面所提到的两款周边产品之外,系统中还包括一部iPhone手机。
工作时,三款设备通过无线方式彼此连接而又各司其职。其中,Oculus Rift眼镜负责视野控制,Razer Hydra电子枪则对应游戏中的枪支实施射击,而iPhone则主要是利用摄像头拍摄事先放在地上的坐标参照物和陀螺仪、加速计来判断玩家的行进状态。
笔者在这里加一点自己的设想,如果技术人员能够在Atlas系统中再加入之前曝光可以模拟真实被子弹击中感觉的ARAIG游戏服是不是就更完美了呢?
目前,Atlas系统正在众筹平台Kickstarter网站中募集后续的研发资金,因此那些想要获得这么一套装备的玩家还需要耐心等待一段时间。

  近日,外媒曝光了诺基亚四核平板RX-114的配置信息。根据测试数据显示,诺基亚这款平板将会拥有FHD全高清分辨率触控屏,配备高通骁龙800四核处理器,运行Windows 8系统。

  此前,就有关于诺基亚Win 8平板的消息曝光,但一直没有得到过确切的信息。这次外媒的独家消息看似十分靠谱。
  从 测试数据看出,由于搭载型号为Adreno 330的GPU,所以确定处理器为高通骁龙800。另外,虽然显示出的诺基亚平板的屏幕分辨率为 1371 × 771,但外媒依然认为诺基亚RX-114平板电脑将会拥有FHD全高清触控屏,分辨率将达到1920 × 1080。这是因为此前微软 Surface Pro平板在测试中也显示出类似于1371 × 771的分辨率。
  尺寸方面没有提及,但根据此前的报道,诺基亚或将推出两种尺寸的Win 8平板,分别为10.5英寸和8.5英寸,且均采用金属材质。
  相信不久就会有诺基亚平板电脑的官方信息放出,让我们拭目以待。

  当你听到"复古相机"这几个字的时候,你可能想到的是几十年前的银色或黑色的"铁疙瘩",但如果保留这些相机的外观设计,你会选择用木头取代金属机身吗?
  法国摄影爱好者Cesar Sebouhian和他父亲最近就用木材制作了这么一台相机。他们用印尼黑檀木制作了一台外观完全仿照尼康胶片单反F2的数码相机,并将其命名为尼康F2D。
  F2D可不是一台只能用于摆设、没有任何拍摄功能的工艺品。Cesar Sebouhian表示,F2D的设计是经过深思熟虑的。为了保留F2机身原汁原味的操作体验,同时又能让F2D正常拍摄,Cesar他们在木制外壳内塞入了一台尼康数码相机,并在设计时加入很多巧思。例如,将F2上的取景器锁设计成F2D的开关,将F2上的曝光延时开关设计成了变焦拨杆。
  由于相机支持触屏操控,可以减少物理按键数量,这也减轻了设计难度。当问及为什么要制作这样一款相机时,父子俩笑着说只是觉得简单、好玩。

英国法庭最近裁定 SkyDrive 侵犯了新闻集团(News Corporation)旗下英国付费电视供应商 BSkyB(英国天空广播公司)的商标权。据悉,新闻集团早在 2011 年就对微软发起过诉讼,并称旗下 BSkyB 早已在 Sky 品牌下提供着移动应用和在线流媒体服务。尽管微软认为 SkyDrive 云存储服务并不是那么容易会和 Sky 流媒体视频服务相混淆,但英国法官 Sarah Asplin 并不认同微软的观点:"微软所使用的 SkyDrive 名称会对新闻集团的 Sky 商标造成不利影响。"
最终,在经过不断协商后,微软还是同意将其云存储服务改名。BSkyB 称,微软不会再对法庭裁定结果上诉,同时,他们还将允许微软继续使用 SkyDrive 商标一段时间,"以保证微软有个合理的过渡期让新品牌名与旧品牌名进行交替。"
微软发言人也向媒体确认了这一消息:"我们很高兴已经解决了这次商标纠纷,我们将继续为我们的亿万用户竭诚服务,提供最好的云端文件管理服务。"除此之外,两家公司都没有对关于协议的赔偿以及其他细节进行任何透露。

值得一提的是,这并不是微软第一次被迫为自己产品改名。早前因与德国企业 Metro AG 在"Metro"的命名上有争议,微软主动将 Metro 一词进行"降温":将"Metro 风格应用"改名为"Windows 8 应用","Metro 用户界面"改为"Windows 8 用户界面","Metro 设计"也不得不成为"Windows 8 设计"。仅管微软曾表示,Metro 只是研发代号,并非正式名称。但在进行了一系列大力宣传后,又生生把"Metro"吞回去,想必微软对此也颇为无奈。不知在 SkyDrive 也被迫改名后,微软又做何感想?

  新浪科技讯 北京时间8月1日早间消息,据路透社今天报道,一个两年前入侵过安全公司RSA系统的中国黑客组织,如今又将攻击目标对准一家跨国电话会议设备制造商,可能试图窃听董事会议和其他高级别远程会议的内容。
  根据戴尔公司旗下SecureWorks安全部门的研究人员周三公布的一份文件,这个黑客组织利用多台电脑处理感染了恶意软件的设备通讯,试图窃取重要数据,而SecureWorks部门已经对这些电脑进行了监控。
  虽然研究人员无法确认该黑客组织正在窃取哪类信息,但他们发现多家公司和办事处正在传输信息,对自己被窃听浑然不知。SecureWorks两位研究人员乔·斯图尔特(Joe Stewart)和唐·杰克逊(Don Jackson)表示,遭到入侵的电脑属于一家跨国电话会议设备厂商,它们分别放在五个不同的办公地点。
  斯图尔特在接受采访时表示:"我认为黑客正在寻找源代码",这些代码可以帮助他们发现系统漏洞,进而展开进一步攻击以窃取信息。他说:"如果最终目标是这家电话会议厂商的客户,他们可能想要窃听其办公地点的信息。"

  斯图尔特透露,新一轮攻击的实施者是隐藏在北京的一家黑客组织,他和其他安全研究人员已经对该组织进行了数年的研究。该组织通常会利用三十多种恶意软件实施攻击,而斯图尔特和杰克逊只追踪了其中一种。
  斯图尔特称,他们追踪到的代码家族共有数百个变种,至少在64次攻击活动中被派上了用场,包括对那家电话会议设备厂商的渗透。同样的程序还被用于攻击政府机构和10个行业组织,包括矿业、媒体和通信业等。
  在斯图尔特和杰克逊确认的被恶意软件感染的目标中,数量最多的在日本,其次是印度、韩国、中国台湾和美国。(扬帆)

网易科技讯 8月1日消息,据路透社报道,IBM在周三提交给监管机构的文件中透露,美国证券交易委员会(SEC)正在调查其云计算业务的营收。
IBM称,早在今年5月,该公司就已获悉SEC正在开展这项调查。但该公司没有进一步透露有关调查的细节。
IBM在其季度财报中,没有单独报告云计算业务的营收数据,但曾表示计划到2015年年底,使云计算业务营收达到70亿美元。
云计算服务可以让企业租赁与其他客户共享的数据中心提供的计算能力、存储资源和其他服务。与创建和维护自己的数据中心相比,云计算服务通常更为便宜,更具灵活性。
一些分析师表示,SEC的调查不会对IBM带来很大的影响。
市场研究机构Topeka Capital Markets分析师布莱恩·怀特(Brian White)表示:"乍一看,这可能是一个值得担忧的问题。但我们认为,由于云计算业务尚处于发展的初期阶段,其营收数据一段时间内可以不对外公开。我们不认为SEC的调查不会对IBM产生重大影响。"
怀特还指出,云计算业务可以包括以不同方式利用云计算的软件、服务器、存储、网络或数据库等服务,有些服务的营收无法明确计算。
上月,IBM出资20亿美元收购了云计算服务公司SoftLayer Technologies,,进一步扩大了其云计算业务。

IBM表示,它正在配合SEC的调查,并再次披露美国司法部正在调查其在波兰、阿根廷、孟加拉国以及乌克兰等地的交易。今年4月30日,IBM曾对此进行了披露。
该公司称,美国司法部仍在努力寻求有关该公司在全球范围内遵守《海外反腐败法》以及其公共行业业务的信息。
另外两项调查最近已获得和解。
7月25日,美国一名联邦法官批准IBM与SEC于2011年就该公司海外行贿指控达成的和解。
2011年3月,IBM同意支付1000万美元罚款,以对SEC就其行贿韩国和中国政府官员发起的指控达成和解。
IBM股价周三收于195.04美元,较上一交易日下跌0.49%。(刘春)

  移动互联网蓬勃发展,日本厂商们的日子却似乎一天比一天难过。早在本月中旬,就有消息表示NEC即将推出智能手机市场,NEC当时还专门辟谣,表示绝无此事。可就在7月的最后一天,NEC还是毫无意外的揭穿了自己的画皮,正式宣布退出智能手机市场。

  NEC原文的意思是"重新规划",也就是说公司将从7月31日开始终止所有智能手机开发,并且现行机种的生产销售也停止。

  NEC从2009年开始为了和夏普对抗,和日立联合开始推出手机。当年那些让我们熟悉的"MEDIAS"系列,"EXILIM手机"系列和"G'z One"系列以及日立的"Wooo手机"系列都是NEC手机旗下的产品。虽然NEC也宣称今年夏天将在NTT docomo夏季新品中要采取新战略,但是现在为了公司未来的发展,NEC毅然决定离开智能手机战场,颇有壮士断腕的决心。

  如果不出意外的话,今年秋季,我们就将见到亚马逊新一代的Kindle Fire平板了。而且根据外媒BGR的报道,亚马逊计划将新一代产品的性能提升至如今这款Kindle Fire的三倍。
  前些时间,这家外媒就曾经报道过,今年亚马逊会推出3款新品:入门级的7英寸Kindle Fire,搭载Snapdragon 800处理器的Kindle Fire HD 7和Kindle Fire HD 8.9。

据悉亚马逊将于今年秋季发布新一代Kindle Fire HD
  据他们称,两款Kindle Fire HD平板的处理器主频会达到2GHz,并且均会配备2GB RAM,有16GB、32GB和64GB三种容量可以选择。其中,Kindle Fire HD 8.9的屏幕分辨率会达到惊人的2560×1600,Kindle Fire HD 7的屏幕分辨率也会有1920×1200。
  目前有消息称,这三款新一代Kindle平板运行的系统会基于Android 4.2.2。此外BGR还称,新Kindle平板会比现在的更轻、手感也更好。不过目前两款新Kindle Fire HD平板的价格还没有消息,而新Kindle Fire的价格据悉会是159美元。
  点评:新Nexus 7已经发布了,10月份苹果也有可能发布新一代iPad mini。如果再算上已经上市售卖的三星8英寸平板的话,这么看起来,新Kindle平板的竞争对手还是一如既往的强劲。不过新Kindle平板在配置上 的提升也很大啊,新Kindle Fire HD 8.9的屏幕绝对是惊艳——当然前提是传闻属实。

July 31, 2013 — Chanel, UC Santa Barbara's corpse flower, has finally spread her odiferous wings, broadcasting a stench that smells like a cross between rotting flesh and Limburger cheese. "It's disgusting," said UCSB junior Connor Way, who visited Wednesday morning. "It's pretty nasty."
Other visitors said Chanel smelled like "French cheese" or "a dead rat in a wall." Alex Feldwinn, a computer technician in the Life Science Computing Group at UCSB said, "It really smells like a dead animal -- not just a dead animal, but a rotting one." Edith Ogella, a longtime Santa Barbara resident, said, "It's breathtaking."
The entire community has been holding its collective breath waiting for UCSB's Amorophallus titanum, its proper botanic name, to bloom. "This is a rare occurrence under cultivation and even rarer in its native Sumatra, where the deforestation of equatorial rainforests has wreaked havoc on its habitat," said UCSB biology greenhouse manager Danica Taber.
Hundreds of visitors to UCSB's greenhouse can now tick off on their bucket list seeing -- and smelling -- a Titan Arum. "We've been visiting in Santa Barbara for a month," said David Cooper, who lives in Phoenix. "We came last week but couldn't leave until we saw it in bloom."
Discovered in 1878 by the Florentine botanist Odoardo Beccarini, the Titan Arum, another common name given the plant by Sir David Attenborough in his BBC nature documentary series, heats up as it blooms in order to disperse its "perfume" -- hence the moniker Chanel. Heat enables the smell to go farther, attracting more pollinating insects and increasing the chance of pollination.
An infrared camera from Goleta-based FLIR captured time-sequence thermal photography of Chanel as her spadix, the tall core spike that houses both female and male flowers, heated up to nearly human body temperature. The plant's temperature began to rise at 7 p.m. Tuesday night and peaked at 95.5°F at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday morning. "The data provided by this series of photographs will help us understand how the Titan Arum uses thermal energy to attract pollinators," said Taber.
The Titan Arum heats up by burning carbohydrates stored in its corm, an underground stem that has been modified into storage tissue. The enormous amount of energy expended during this process limits the time the Titan can bloom, which explains why it only blooms for a couple of days and doesn't bloom annually.
Chanel is only the second Titan Arum to bloom at UCSB. Tiny, Chanel's mother, bloomed once in 2002 before dying. The wait for UCSB's next bloom from this giant Sumatran cousin to the common philodendron may not be as long as the wait for Chanel to bloom. Chanel is about to become a mother.
Staff at the UCSB biology greenhouse had the foresight to contact the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C., to secure pollen from its plant (nicknamed Mortimer in social media) that bloomed July 21. While Chanel was in heat last night, greenhouse staff applied the pollen donated to the female flowers.
Once pollinated, female flowers develop into olive-sized bright orange-red fruits that are carried in cylindrical clusters up to half a meter long. Inside the fruits are one or two seeds that -- with tender care and an abundance of patience -- can develop into the corms from which the Titan Arums grows. Five to seven years down the road, Chanel's offspring could possibly bloom.
"Any seeds that Chanel and Mortimer produce from their cross-continent union will help further conservation efforts for this bizarre, majestic, and threatened plant," Taber said.
"There are 300,000 different species of flowering plants and the corpse flower is one of the most extreme examples of how evolution can result in extreme flowers and pollination systems," said Scott Hodges, professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology. "This is a tremendous opportunity to show students and the general public about plant diversity and biology in general. And there are other teaching opportunities, such as showing conservation students how we can go about keeping endangered species from going extinct by reproducing them in greenhouses such as ours here at UCSB."
The UCSB greenhouse will be open this evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please check Chanel's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ChanelTheTitanArum) for updates on visiting hours. Admission is free. Titan Arum signs will direct visitors to Lot 18, where parking costs $5 for two hours. From there, Titan Arum signs will guide visitors from Lot 18 to the greenhouse.

苏宁云商昨日发布其2013年半年度业绩快报:今年上半年,苏宁实现营业总收入554 .54亿元,同比增长17 .51%,归属于上市公司股东的净利润为7 .33亿元,较上年同期下降58 .24%。去年上半年,苏宁净利润高达17 .5亿元。线上线下业绩出现分化:线上销售翻一番,线下门店却缩减百家。此前国美刚刚发布业绩快报,今年上半年扭亏为盈,二季度预计净利环比增长超100%。苏宁、国美两大传统家电连锁在应对电商雄起时策略已经明显:苏宁走的是"以利润换规模"路径,誓与京东死磕到底;国美目前则是盈利为先,保障现金流,"拖垮京东"。
线上销售翻一番,线下门店缩百家
城头变幻大王旗,连锁巨头苏宁在天猫、京东等电商压境中腹背受敌。早前跑马圈地式的门店扩张战略不再奏效,线下门店收缩调整势在必行。
今年上半年,苏宁在大陆地区新进地级市2个,新开连锁店面28家,关闭/置换连锁店面120家。截至上半年底,苏宁在内地已进入273个地级以上城市,拥有连锁店面1572家;在香港地区新开连锁店面2家,拥有店面32家;在日本市场关闭/置换店面1家,拥有店面总数10家。
截至上半年末,苏宁云商在内地、香港及日本共拥有1614家门店,比去年同期1728家门店实际减少114家。但苏宁强调,苏宁可比店面销售收入同比仍增长11.03%。
苏宁电子商务业务的增长则引人瞩目:今年上半年,苏宁电商业务实现商品主营销售收入106 .13亿元,同比增长101%。此外,"红孩子"母婴、化妆品等销售收入(2013年1月1日-2013年3月31日期间)及"红孩子"开放平台业务、商旅、充值、彩票、团购等虚拟产品代售业务规模合计约为18亿元。
电商业务的快速增长也拉高了苏宁营收,上半年苏宁实现营业总收入554.54亿元,同比增长17.51%。
按照苏宁内部计划,第三季度将全面推进开放平台的招商和建设,吸纳非电器品类商户入驻,不断丰富SK U数量。另外苏宁还将加速门店的互联网化,增加自提点、优化门店付款业务,针对线上苏宁易购的产品服务增设虚拟体验店、二维码等购物,推进线上线下的O 2O融合。
同价的代价
去年8月中旬开始,苏宁门店率先启动3C产品的线上线下同价促销,此后同价策略逐步覆盖全品类。
"苏宁营收增长主要因为实施了'线上线下同价'的战略,使它的实体店收入比去年好了不少。而实行同价,利润的大幅下滑是肯定的。因为线上线下同价是就低不就高,线下价格向线上价格看齐,向低价看齐,这意味着销量增长了,但利润下滑了,这是实现同价必须付出的代价。"家电专家刘步尘认为,苏宁下滑近六成,是因为它双线作战:线上和京东、天猫竞争,在实体店方面要继续领先于国美,都需要大量的广告投入和促销活动,必然使得营销成本增加。"同价战略和营销成本增加导致了利润的下滑。"

刘步尘称,鱼与熊掌不可兼得。苏宁想要大幅盈利很难,"你要增长就一定要降价"。
就在一周前,国美电器刚刚宣布上半年转亏为盈,盈利应在2亿元以上。虽然盈利能力与苏宁仍有差距,但业绩已向好。坊间盛传,国美创始人黄光裕高度重视京东刘强东,狱中指令国美保持现金流、不惜一切代价阻止京东上市,企图拖垮京东。
刘步尘认为,今年国美为了实现盈利,一定会削减各种费用支出。"黄老板(黄光裕)给国美下了死命令,今年一定要盈利。但人力、营销等成本的削减,反过来会影响营收,国美计划全年30%的增收目标实现有难度。"

南都讯记者 高凌云 PC业遭遇比2008年金融危机之时更残酷的寒冬,这使得整个PC产业链都感受到了阵阵寒意,微软(31.84,-0.01,-0.03%)同样也难幸免。美国当地时间周二,微软向美国证券交易委员会(SEC)提交年报,详细披露了每个部门的财务业绩。微软的年报数据显示,受到PC出货量大幅下滑拖累,其面向OEM厂商(也就是PC厂商)销售的Windows产品的预装收入出现大幅下滑,如果不算上通过Windows升级优惠获得5.4亿美元递延收入,微软上一财年OEM收入同比降幅扩大到10%。

来自IDC的数据显示,2012年全球PC出货下降3%,其中2012年第四季度下降幅度为6%。进入2013年,PC出货量下滑的步伐还在加快,今年一季度,全球PC市场出货量同比下滑14%,二季度仍然下滑了11.4%。IDC报告指出,一方面因为经济不景气,PC用户换机动力不足;更主要的原因,是平板电脑和智能手机的部分应用能够取代PC,压制了PC市场的需求。PC出货量的不断走低,成为微软Windows产品预装收入出现大幅下滑的主要原因。此外,微软Windows8上市后,并没有取得微软预期的业绩,由于Windows8相比Windows7跳跃性太大,使得很多用户不习惯这一操作系统,也打压了OEM厂商预装Windows产品的积极性。为了改变这种状况,微软不得不在前不久推出Windows8.1,回归"开始"按钮,以满足消费者需求。
尽管微软Windows预装收入出现大幅下滑,但微软整个Windows部门的财务业绩仍然不俗:2013财年该部门实现营收192亿美元,实现营业利润95亿美元,利润率表现优异。

  Galaxy S4及其衍生品层出不穷,继两款炫亮的新色款S4之后,三星电子昨天又宣布,推出支持双模LTE制式的Galaxy S4以及S4 mini。
  LTE双模版Galaxy S4、S4 mini可无缝兼容TDD-LTE和FDD-LTE两种LTE通信标准,即通用全球现有的4G网络,能够让用户随时随地享受到4G LTE高速网络。
  支持LTE双模的Galaxy S4、S4 mini硬件规格与目前普通版保持一致,不过三星已经表态,暂时不会在其他机型上推广LTE双模,所以想要畅游4G的用户,可以选购这两款双模版的Galaxy手机。
  双模LTE版本的Galaxy S4仍配备5寸1080p屏幕、骁龙600四核处理器、2GB内存以及1300万像素摄像头,而LTE双模版Galaxy S4 mini采用的是4.3寸540 x 960屏幕、骁龙400双核处理器、1.5GB内存以及800万像素主摄像头。

July 31, 2013 — Earthquakes never occur when you need one, so a team led by Johns Hopkins structural engineers is shaking up a building themselves in the name of science and safety.
Using massive moving platforms and an array of sensors and cameras, the researchers are trying to find out how well a two-story building made of cold-formed steel can stand up to a lab-generated Southern California quake.
The testing, taking place this summer in Buffalo, N.Y., marks the culmination of a three-year, $1 million research project involving scientists from six universities and design consultants from the steel industry. The work is taking place in the only facility in the U.S. that is capable of replicating an earthquake in three directions beneath a building measuring 50 feet long, 20 feet wide and 20 feet tall. The trials will wrap up in mid-August when the researchers will shake the unoccupied structure with forces comparable to those at the epicenter of the catastrophic 1994 Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles, which claimed dozens of lives and caused billions of dollars in damage.
The researchers may sound like a wrecking crew, but their work has important implications for the people who construct, live or work in buildings. The results are expected to lead to improved nationwide building codes that will make future cold-formed steel buildings less expensive to construct than current ones. Also, the new codes could, in certain cases, make lightweight cold-formed steel buildings less costly to construct than those made of materials such as timber, concrete or hot-rolled steel. In earthquake-prone regions, these code updates should help structural designers and builders reduce the likelihood of a costly and life-threatening building collapse. Finally, the research, funded primarily by the National Science Foundation, with added support from the steel industry, could lead to broader use of building components made of environmentally friendly cold-formed steel, made of 100 percent recycled steel.
Cold-formed steel pieces, commonly used to frame low- and mid-rise buildings, are made by bending sheet metal, roughly one-millimeter-thick, into structural shapes without using heat. Cold-formed steel already has been used in an array of structures such as college dorms, assisted living centers, small hotels, barracks, apartments and office buildings. Although the material is popular, some large knowledge gaps exist regarding how well cold-formed steel structures will stand up to extreme conditions -- including earthquakes. This has caused engineers to be very conservative in their design methods. The tests being conducted atop two "shake tables" at the University at Buffalo should help close those information gaps and lead to better constructed buildings, says lead researcher Benjamin Schafer, of the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins.
"This is the first time a full building of cold-formed steel framing has ever been tested in this way, so even the small things we're learning could have a huge impact," said Schafer, the Swirnow Family Scholar, professor and chair of the Department of Civil Engineering. "We'll see code changes and building design changes. We think this will ultimately lead to more economic, more efficient and more sustainable buildings."
In May, Schafer's team began supervising a construction crew in assembling a first version of the test building. This structure, about the size of a small real estate or medical office building, was mainly composed of the cold-formed steel skeleton and oriented strand board (OSB) sheathing. When those first tests were completed, that structure was torn down and replaced by an identical building that also included non-structural components such as stairs and interior walls. The researchers are trying to determine whether these additions, which do not support the frame of the building, can still help reduce damage during a quake. It is the second version of the test building that in August will face the strongest seismic forces, as recorded during the Northridge earthquake.
At the test site, the construction of the buildings, the shake trials and the collection of data have been overseen by Kara Peterman of Fairfax, Va., a Johns Hopkins civil engineering doctoral student being supervised by Schafer. She has been gathering data from more than 150 sensors and eight video cameras installed in and around the test buildings. During a simulated quake, these instruments are designed to track the three-dimensional movement of the structure and to record any piece in the building that has "failed," such as beams that have bent or screws that have come loose.
Peterman said tests on the first version of the building yielded surprisingly good results. "It moved a lot less than we were predicting," she said. "We did find one small portion of the steel that failed, but that was because of a conflict in the design plans, not because of the way it was constructed. And that small failure was purely local -- it didn't affect the structure as a whole."
She said she is anxious to see how much the addition of interior walls and other non-structural components will add to the building's stability during the more powerful tests ahead. Peterman predicted that the final high-intensity test is likely to damage the building, but not enough to cause a catastrophic collapse.
When the testing is completed and the results are analyzed, Schafer's team plans to incorporate the findings into computer models that will be shared freely with engineers who want to see on their desktop how their designs are likely to respond in an earthquake. "The modeling," Schafer said, "will create cost efficiencies and potentially save lives."
In addition to the Johns Hopkins participants, academic researchers from the following schools have taken part in the project: Bucknell University, McGill University, University of North Texas and Virginia Tech. Steel industry partners who have provided technical expertise, materials and additional funding include Bentley Systems, Incorporated; ClarkDietrich Building Systems; Devco Engineering, Inc.; DSi Engineering; Mader Construction Company, Inc.; Simpson Strong-Tie Company, Inc.; the Steel Framing Industry Association; the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association; and the American Iron and Steel Institute.

网易科技讯 8月1日消息,据国外媒体报道,根据一位开发者在iOS 7 SDK开发包中的发现,苹果目前可能正在测试一款全新的iPad mini设备。该设备采用了更快的处理器,但并未搭配传闻的"视网膜"显示屏。
证据被隐匿在一个隐藏文件里——该文件列出了所有支持的iOS 7设备。这些信息和细节通过测试版iOS 7获得了证实。
根据已提供信息,苹果正在考虑推出三款新iPad mini设备:iPad "2,8"、iPad "2,9"以及iPad "2,10"。这几个编号分别对应了J75、J76和J77的生产代号,其中一款为仅支持WiFi功能的型号,另外两款为支持3G/4G移动网的型号。
iPad "2,8"、iPad "2,9"和iPad "2,10"的内部编号是沿用了苹果一贯命名方式,与当前iPad mini类同(分别为iPad "2,5"、iPad "2,6"和iPad "2,7")。
至于新iPad mini将拥有的特色,其中包括了一个名为"s5l8950x"的处理器编号。这与苹果在iPhone 5上所采用的A6 SoC处理器编号相同。也就是说,新iPad mini将会较当前基于A5处理器的型号在速度上大幅提升。A6处理器已证明拥有更好的表现,在操作系统切换、电影加载以及游戏表现上都优于前代产品。
此外,"证据"也显示新iPad mini或将缺少视网膜显示屏。当前苹果采用了视网膜屏幕的设备,如iPhone 5和第四代iPad,都会在"@2x"模式下提供连接图片的钩子(hooks to images)。这些钩子是帮助开发人员在视网膜屏幕下创建优雅应用的工具。然而,新iPad mini并没有这个"@2x"的钩子,只包括了非视网膜屏幕的图片。也许,这证实了早前一项传闻——拥有视网膜屏幕的iPad mini,其内部生产代号为J85;而非视网膜屏幕的iPad mini,生产代号则为J75.
目前获得的资料还包括,可以确定以上新的iPad mini将使用与当前iPad mini一样的移动网技术以及基带处理芯片。

基于包含在iOS 7 SDK中的信息,苹果很可能正在对上述新的iPad mini设备进行测试(在没有视网膜屏幕的情况下)。甚至也无法确定苹果是否最终将以上代号为iPad "2,8"、iPad "2,9"和iPad "2,10"的设备,作为一个成品推向市场。

  2013年第二季度业绩概要:
  2013年第二季度的净营业收入为12亿元人民币(2亿零300万美元),同比增长28%。
  2013年第二季度的毛利率为75%,与2012年同期持平。
  2013年第二季度的营业利润为1亿9600万元人民币(3200万美元),同比增长17%。 若不计股权报酬费用,2013年第二季度营业利润为3亿700万元人民币(5000万美元),同比增长11%。

  2013年第二季度的管理费用为1亿5900万元人民币(2600万美元),同比增长14%, 增长的主要原因为管理人员相关费用及股权报酬费用的增加。2013年第二季度的管理费用环比下降2%。若不计股权报酬费用,2013年第二季度的管理费用占净营业额的8%,相比2012年同期和上季度保持一致。

July 31, 2013 — Recent technological developments in genomics have revealed a large number of genetic influences on common complex diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, cancer or schizophrenia. However, discovering a genetic variant predisposing to a disease is only a first step. To apply this knowledge towards prevention or cure, including tailoring treatment to the patient's genetic profile -also known as personalized medicine -- we need to know how this genetic variant affects health.

In a study published today in Nature Communications, Dr. Constantin Polychronakos from the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), and collaborators from McGill University and The University of Texas, propose a novel approach for scanning the entire genome that will help us understand the effect of genes on human traits.
"This completely new methodology really opens up different ways of understanding how the genome affects the biology of the human body," says Dr. Polychronakos, corresponding author of the study and Director of the Endocrine Genetics Laboratory at the Montreal Children's Hospital and Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Human Genetics at McGill University.
DNA is the blueprint according to which our body is constructed and functions. Cells "read" this blueprint by transcribing the information into RNA, which is then used as a template to construct proteins -- the body's building blocks. Genes are scanned based on the association of their RNA with ribosomes -- particles in which protein synthesis takes place.
"Until now, researchers have been focusing on the effects of disease-associated genomic variants on DNA-to-RNA transcription, instead of the challenging question of effects on RNA-to-protein translation," says Dr. Polychronakos. "Thanks to this methodology, we can now better understand the effect of genetic variants on translation of RNA to protein -- a powerful way of developing biomarkers for personalized medicine and new therapies."

July 31, 2013 — Turbulence is all around us -- in the patterns that natural gas makes as it swirls through a transcontinental pipeline or in the drag that occurs as a plane soars through the sky. Reducing such turbulence on say, an airplane wing, would cut down on the amount of power the plane has to put out just to get through the air, thereby saving fuel. But in order to reduce turbulence -- a very complicated phenomenon -- you need to understand it, a task that has proven to be quite a challenge.
Since 2006, Beverley McKeon, professor of aeronautics and associate director of the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and collaborator Ati Sharma, a senior lecturer in aerodynamics and flight mechanics at the University of Southampton in the U.K., have been working together to build models of turbulent flow. Recently, they developed a new and improved way of looking at the composition of turbulence near walls, the type of flow that dominates our everyday life.
Their research could lead to significant fuel savings, as a large amount of energy is consumed by ships and planes, for example, to counteract turbulence-induced drag. Finding a way to reduce that turbulence by 30 percent would save the global economy billions of dollars in fuel costs and associated emissions annually, says McKeon, a coauthor of a study describing the new method published online in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics on July 8.
"This kind of turbulence is responsible for a large amount of the fuel that is burned to move humans, freight, and fluids such as water, oil, and natural gas, around the world," she says. "[Caltech physicist Richard] Feynman described turbulence as 'one of the last unsolved problems of classical physics,' so it is also a major academic challenge."
Wall turbulence develops when fluids -- liquid or gas -- flow past solid surfaces at anything but the slowest flow rates. Progress in understanding and controlling wall turbulence has been somewhat incremental because of the massive range of scales of motion involved -- from the width of a human hair to the height of a multi-floor building in relative terms -- says McKeon, who has been studying turbulence for 16 years. Her latest work, however, now provides a way of analyzing a large-scale flow by breaking it down into discrete, more easily analyzed bits.
McKeon and Sharma devised a new method of looking at wall turbulence by reformulating the equations that govern the motion of fluids -- called the Navier-Stokes equations -- into an infinite set of smaller, simpler subequations, or "blocks," with the characteristic that they can be simply added together to introduce more complexity and eventually get back to the full equations. But the benefit comes in what can be learned without needing the complexity of the full equations. Calling the results from analysis of each one of those blocks a "response mode," the researchers have shown that commonly observed features of wall turbulence can be explained by superposing, or adding together, a very small number of these response modes, even as few as three.
In 2010, McKeon and Sharma showed that analysis of these blocks can be used to reproduce some of the characteristics of the velocity field, like the tendency of wall turbulence to favor eddies of certain sizes and distributions. Now, the researchers also are using the method to capture coherent vortical structure, caused by the interaction of distinct, horseshoe-shaped spinning motions that occur in turbulent flow. Increasing the number of blocks included in an analysis increases the complexity with which the vortices are woven together, McKeon says. With very few blocks, things look a lot like the results of an extremely expensive, real-flow simulation or a full laboratory experiment, she says, but the mathematics are simple enough to be performed, mode-by-mode, on a laptop computer.
"We now have a low-cost way of looking at the 'skeleton' of wall turbulence," says McKeon, explaining that similar previous experiments required the use of a supercomputer. "It was surprising to find that turbulence condenses to these essential building blocks so easily. It's almost like discovering a lens that you can use to focus in on particular patterns in turbulence."
Using this lens helps to reduce the complexity of what the engineers are trying to understand, giving them a template that can be used to try to visually -- and mathematically -- identify order from flows that may appear to be chaotic, she says. Scientists had proposed the existence of some of the patterns based on observations of real flows; using the new technique, these patterns now can be derived mathematically from the governing equations, allowing researchers to verify previous models of how turbulence works and improve upon those ideas.
Understanding how the formulation can capture the skeleton of turbulence, McKeon says, will allow the researchers to modify turbulence in order to control flow and, for example, reduce drag or noise.
"Imagine being able to shape not just an aircraft wing but the characteristics of the turbulence in the flow over it to optimize aircraft performance," she says. "It opens the doors for entirely new capabilities in vehicle performance that may reduce the consumption of even renewable or non-fossil fuels."
Funding for the research outlined in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics paper, titled "On coherent structure in wall turbulence," was provided by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The paper is the subject of a "Focus on Fluids" feature article that will appear in an upcoming print issue of the same journal and was written by Joseph Klewicki of the University of New Hampshire.

西门子昨日宣布,现年56岁的原CFO凯飒(Joe Kaeser)将出任西门子股份公司的总裁兼CEO。这一任命将从今日起生效。这也意味着上一任CEO罗旭德(Peter Loscher)将提前4年结束任期。
凯飒现年56岁,自2006年起担任该公司的CFO。该公司也会在近期任命新的CFO,而经双方协商同意,罗旭德将辞去其在西门子管理委员会的职务。该决定在西门子监事会上获得通过。
尽管西门子监事会对罗旭德本人自2007年7月1日担任西门子总裁兼CEO以来所取得的成绩仍表示高度认可,如其帮助西门子度过了合规危机、在全球金融危机和债务危机后也引领该公司应对这些挑战,但是外界评论称,罗旭德提前离开西门子也是因为近期西门子的业绩欠佳所致,他的任期原定是到2017年。
西门子在上周四宣布了在2014年将利润率提升至12%的目标,公司的业绩表现也被指"低于市场预期"。
《第一财经日报》记者从其公司的官网看到,西门子第三季度的订单同比上升了19%,为211.41亿欧元,营业收入为192.48亿欧元,同比下滑了2%。因为执行"西门子2014"生产力改进项目,导致公司产生4.36亿欧元的费用总额,使得利润有所下降,至12.61亿欧元。同时,其运营收益同比下降了13%,而该公司第三季度的自由现金流趋于稳定,同比上升8%,达到9.73亿欧元。

但是,罗旭德的一份离职声明,却令这次换帅事件并不像外界所想的那么简单。他说,向西门子监事会提交辞呈是一个艰难的决定,"我感谢大家给我的支持,最近几个月以来,西门子家族及监事会成员、员工们也继续表达了对我的支持。但是,过去几周我越来越认识到,维系我继续留任的信任基础正在逐渐丧失。一个信任的基础,以及监事会和管理委员会之间的团结,对任何一个公司都是必需的。公司的利益大于任何人的个人利益,包括我本人在内。"
他还强调:"如果任由这种信任的缺乏,危及公司设定新的发展之路、弥补过去的失误、重返盈利性增长、建设新的企业文化,那么这对公司的未来和它的员工来说将是灾难性的。"

面板厂"捞过界"触摸屏厂变革求存

智能手机渗透率不断提高,平板电脑销量持续增长。但是,传统触摸屏厂商却感受到一阵寒意。
上周,中国最大的面板企业京东方宣布拟定向增发融资460亿元,其中25亿元将用于在合肥上马触摸屏生产线。这是京东方首次涉足触摸屏,而其合肥触摸屏项目的总投资达53.97亿元,设计产能为每月6万片玻璃基板,计划2014年3月投产。
自夏普、LG Display等日韩面板厂为苹果iPhone供应集成触控和显示功能的一体化触摸模组以来,面板厂直接做触摸屏已成为一股风气。"现在我们有压力,有的客户变成竞争对手了。"珠三角某触摸屏厂(下称"TP厂")的一位中层骨干向《第一财经日报》记者感叹道。
本报记者从今年7月成立的广东省触控及应用产业协会了解到,信利、莱宝等传统触摸屏企业已经感受到压力,正积极向OGS(一体化电容式触摸屏)转型或向下游的触控模组延伸,触控产业上下游融合趋势日益明显。
单片式触摸屏的机会
原来智能手机的屏多为两片式,由触摸屏和液晶面板合成。然而,手机轻薄化的趋势,让单片式触摸屏大行其道。这给面板厂涉足触摸屏带来了良机。
"到2015年的趋势,将是面板、触控更紧密的结合。"友达光电行动装置显示器产品事业单位行销二处处长陈雨村预测,笔记本电脑领域,2015年80%将用OGS触控屏,而OGS将与液晶显示面板更紧密结合。"未来三年,面板厂将掌握70%~80%的触控技术。"
单片式触摸屏分三种:In-Cell(内嵌式结构)、On-Cell(嵌入式结构)和OGS。苹果iPhone 5用的In-Cell屏正是由夏普、LG Display、JDI(东芝、索尼和日立的合资公司)供应的;而三星Galaxy手机采用的On-Cell屏,则是三星自己生产的Amoled面板。京东方合肥触摸屏项目,采用的则是OGS技术。
Display Search分析师于宁宁认为,由于苹果、三星在智能手机领域影响巨大,In-Cell、On-Cell在手机触摸屏中占比较高。但是,由于手机的需求多样化,所以良率稳定、成本合理的OGS触摸屏仍然有较大空间。而且,新兴的触控笔记本电脑也主要用OGS屏。
于宁宁说,2012年全球触控模组出货金额240亿美元,今年预计将达到340亿美元。触控市场还会保持增长,但增速已回落。
陈雨村则认为,智能手机、平板电脑、笔记本电脑三大应用,使触摸屏呈现两位数的年增幅,2015年全球触摸屏出货量将达15亿片,甚至接近20亿片。
今年,友达光电针对触控笔记本电脑市场,推出ETP(嵌入式触屏)产品,直接将触控芯片与显示屏贴合。陈雨村说,去年微软推出Win 8,但效果低于预期。触控笔记本电脑的市场占有率现在只有8%,没有达到10%~15%的预期,因为价格过高。友达推出ETP屏,希望以更低成本帮助整机厂来撬动这个市场。
陈雨村说,友达现在不仅生产液晶面板,还做OGS、做全贴合(将触摸屏与显示屏贴合的工艺之一),可以提供整合性服务,"希望成为面板和触控方案的提供者"。
面板厂"捞过界"也是形势所迫。华南一家模组厂中小液晶业务总监说,触控芯片厂现在也直接与面板厂合作,有了芯片厂的支持,面板厂更有信心。今年面板供应一度有点紧张,明年估计会过剩,所以"面板厂都要寻找新的增长点"。因此,不仅三星、LG Display、夏普、友达、京东方这些大型液晶面板厂开始涉足触摸屏领域,"中华映管"、群创、深天马等其他面板厂今年也都纷纷涉足触摸屏。
触摸屏厂"有悲有喜"
面板巨头的杀入,让传统的触控屏企业备受压力,积极转型。
莱宝高科(002106.SZ)去年业绩下滑,主营业务收入12.1亿元,同比下跌2.14%;净利润1.4亿元,同比下跌69.33%。为应对变局,莱宝高科向触摸屏产业链中游延伸,同时向新型的OGS触摸屏扩展。2012年9月,其OGS产品已开始小批量生产供货。
"行业的规矩都破坏了,一上来都是全产业链。我们现在做触摸屏'一体化'也是被迫的。"深圳莱宝高科股份有限公司的总经理助理王行村说,大面板厂直接做触摸屏,贴合的钱可以不赚,赚显示屏的钱就行了。这种形势下,TP厂"贴不好将赔钱,贴得好才赚钱"。
王行村认为,面板厂做触摸屏,变相增加了很多产能。如果分工,产能不会扩张那么快。他提醒说,一体化不代表成功,因为触摸屏产业链长、技术多,触摸屏良率现在并不高。
也有乐观者。芜湖长信科技股份有限公司总裁陈夕林认为,触摸屏快速发展,现有企业满足不了市场需求。其次,做好触摸屏其实并不容易,友达等面板厂切入,最终要看其成本、品质稳定性有没有竞争力。此外,TP行业原来有很多山寨厂,只做简单的触控模组,大厂进来会加快行业的优胜劣汰。
尽管这样,长信科技(300088.SZ)还是加快向单片式触摸屏转型,其2.5代线2012年4月份量产,3代线2012年10月份量产。去年主营业务收入8.1亿元,同比增长37.51%;净利润2亿元,同比增长33.46%。同时,布局触控笔记本电脑市场,介入中大尺寸触摸屏模组,其三款(11.6英寸、14英寸、21.5英寸)触控产品今年4月已在Intel信息技术峰会登场。
国内最大的手机屏供应商之一信利国际,暂时没有踏足触控笔记本电脑市场,但去年10月其OGS生产线已正式在广东汕尾投产。该公司2012年收入达123.74亿港元,同比增长17.8%,净利润7.1亿港元,同比增长86.5%。预计2013年下半年,信利国际的OGS产品每月总产能将达到600万片,有望成为中国第一、全球前三的OGS产品基地。
信利国际的总裁助理胡俊淡定地说:"当年,面板厂也一方面做手机模组,另一方面向手机模组厂供应面板,我们与上游面板厂一直是竞合关系。最终,双方各有市场、各具优势。"

在胡俊看来,面板厂做的都是大批量、标准化的触摸屏,因此对过分依赖苹果、三星等大客户的TP厂会有冲击。而信利国际的客户分散,定制的产品比较多,受面板厂冲击不大。"触摸屏不是标准产品,需要TP厂与手机厂相互配合,所以面板厂很难在这个零散市场竞争。"目前,步步高、酷派、金立、华为、天语、中兴、TCL等国产手机是信利的主要客户。
于宁宁认为,触控产业上下游相互渗透、行业整合的趋势日益明显。除了面板厂直接做触摸屏,触摸屏厂也在向上下游渗透,如,长信科技今年就收购了一个下游的触控模组厂,欧菲光(002456.SZ)则在上游材料领域扩张。
"虽然面板厂也做触摸屏,但触控产业与面板产业不完全一样。面板厂只会瞄准大订单,TP厂承受价格压力,体质不良者将被淘汰,但成本低、手段灵活的TP厂仍有生存空间。"于宁宁认为,触控行业今后将出现"两极分化",大者恒大,小厂各自谋生。
