Google webspam团队负责人Matt Cutts在博客上透露，他的同事收到一封搜索引擎优化（SEO）的自我推销电邮，声称可以帮助www.google.com带来更多访问量，在搜索引擎的某些关键词查询中排名更高。这不是Matt Cutts第一次收到或看到SEO邮件，但这封邮件的特别之处是提到了www.google.com，Google的两位创始人创造了PageRank的概念，作为搜索市场上的统治者，多数SEO优化方法针对的就是Google的排名算法，这位发邮件者看起来没有做足工作，或者是他们已经失去了方向。
