The Monterey County Herald报导，美国陆军限制军人访问《卫报》美国网站guardiannews.com，网站仍然可以访问，但点击文章会自动跳转到《卫报》英国网站。陆军发言人Gordon Van Vleet证实他们屏蔽了《卫报》曝光国家安全局监控电话电子邮件的所有报导，表示此举是遵循美国国防部的"网络卫生"条例，防止在非机密网络上传播未授权披露的机密信息。如果一位雇员无意中下载了机密文件，那么后果将是清空和销毁计算机硬盘，下载者也可能会面临纪律处分。
