在飞檐走壁打击犯罪分子50年后，蜘蛛侠彼得·本杰明·帕克彻底从超级英雄阵营里消失了，但新的蜘蛛侠仍然游荡于高楼大厦之间。
蜘蛛侠初次登场是在1962年8月第15期的《惊奇幻想》漫画中，他由斯坦·李和史蒂夫·迪特科所创造。在本周三出版的第700期漫画里，彼得·帕克死在了仇敌章鱼博士怀里，而帕克的记忆裹住了章鱼博士，曾经的恶棍变成了新的超级英雄蜘蛛侠。看起来章鱼博士非常适合新的角色，因为蜘蛛也有八条腿。蜘蛛侠的一句著名台词是"能力越大，责任越大"。
