加拿大蒙特利尔McGill大学神经学家Jeffrey Mogil的学生怀疑实验什么地方出问题了。他们向实验鼠的脚注射痛感刺激物测试痛感反应，结果老鼠什么反应都没有。但罪魁祸首远远出乎他们的意外：男性的气味。男性学生经手的老鼠感觉不到痛感，好象男性的气味是镇痛剂。Mogil的团队发现，性别差异足以扼杀整个实验。另一位神经学家M.
