《南华早报》发表文章（中文）介绍了上个月一度引起广泛关注的微型卫星广播网计划Outernet。Outernet项目团队计划最早在明年6月份向太空发射低成本的迷你卫星覆盖全球，原理和短波无线电相类似。他们承认，目前Outernet的设计仍停留在概念上，而非实际操作上。团队希望将每颗迷你卫星的成本控制在10万美元以下，并将每颗卫星的发射成本控制在20万美元以下。与此同时，提供快捷且理想频率为802.11的网络信号的成本也会被控制得越小越好。由于政治等因素，Google和Facebook等网站在中国的发展受到阻碍。Outernet的出现将有可能打破这个阻碍。当然，前提是中国政府不拦截卫星信号。项目创始人Syed Karim说，"中国的技术水平十分卓越，如果中国政府想拦截卫星传输，我可以肯定，他们能够找到办法做到。"This entry passed through the Full-Text RSS service — if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read the FAQ at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php#publishers.
