今年二月申请破产保护的比特币交易平台MtGox放弃了重组计划，向东京法院申请清盘。MtGox CEO Mark Karpeles同时拒绝了美国一家法院要求他出席有关MtGox破产事宜的听证会的传票。MtGox放弃重组的原因在于重建公司的流程复杂，比如召集全球债权人举行会议就困难重重，此外缺乏切实可行的重建计划也是原因之一。在破产案例中，若公司进行清盘则意味着债权人将无法收回全部投资。但是一位消息人士表示，MtGox仍有可能找到一位买家。若找到买家，则债权人将可获得未来公司的部份盈利。
