Twitter周四向美国证券交易委员会递交了招股说明书（S-1），公开了首次公开募股(IPO)的细节。Twitter将发行472,613,753股股票，筹集10亿美元。招股说明书透露，Twitter每月有2.18亿活跃用户，年收入同比增长198%，2012年收入3.17亿美元，净亏损7900万美元。2013年上半年收入2.53亿美元，净亏损6900万美元，今年的总收入预计将在6亿美元左右。Twitter表示，它的盈利能力依赖于用户基数的增长，它以中国屏蔽Twitter为例称，干扰或用户访问Twitter服务的成本上升会对其业务造成负面影响。中国ISP封锁Twitter，而伊朗、利比亚、巴基斯坦、叙利亚等国也常因为政治原因时断时续的限制访问Twitter，这些都会影响Twitter未来的表现。
