Google发布更新，破坏了第三方应用AirCast向ChromeCast连接的电视机播放本地视频内容功能。AirCast和Cyanogenmod开发者 Koushik Dutta原计划向Google Play应用商店发布应用，但现在它已经无法在升级后的ChromeCast上正常工作。Dutta认为此举是有意扼杀他的应用，Google在ChromeCast应用中关闭了video_playback支持功能。他认为 ChromeCast不是对独立开发者友好的设备，Google看起来只允许通过设备播放它批准的内容。
