前NSA合同工Edward Snowden卷入了丹麦的监控丑闻，他在丹麦日报《Berlingske》上发表公开信（丹麦语），议论了正在热烈讨论的监视事件。事件是这样的：丹麦有家类似银联的机构Nets，提供了覆盖全国的信用卡和银行交易服务，他们掌握着丹麦每个人的个人信息，上至王储下至平民。Nets将某些服务外包了IBM丹麦部门，一位IBM雇员收钱后向丹麦的一家娱乐周刊《Se & Hør》泄露某些名人和王家成员的位置信息，比如杂志记者利用这些信息知道王子王妃购买了飞往加拿大的机票，他因此能购买机票搭乘同一架客机给王子一个"惊喜"。
